Before you start
Full practice test
Nine subtests, 135 questions, 197 minutes of testing time, each subtest held to its real CAT time limit.
- Questions
- 135
- Testing time
- 197 min
- Subtests
- 9
These are the real CAT-ASVAB figures, which is the version almost every applicant sits at a MEPS today. The time limits are generous on some subtests and tight on others, and the only way to find out which ones you run out of time on is to sit them under the clock.
What the test contains
In the order the test administers them. Each subtest is timed separately and the clock does not carry over.

Rules
- No calculator. You do not get one at a MEPS, so using one here only teaches you a method you cannot use. Paper and a pencil are allowed and expected.
- No going back. Once you answer a question you cannot change it or return to it. The real CAT works this way because it selects your next question from how you answered the last one.
- One sitting. Each subtest has its own clock and finishing early does not buy you time on the next one. Sit the whole thing in one go or the result tells you nothing about your stamina.
- Answer every question. There is no penalty for a wrong answer, so a blank is strictly worse than a guess.
Start the practice test
Each subtest is timed separately and submits itself when its clock runs out. A test cannot be paused and picked up later, so set aside 3 hours 17 minutes before you start.
