On this episode, I’m interviewing Air Force veteran Patrick Humphreys on the 2W0X1 - Munitions Systems AFSC! Also called known as Ammo.

Their battle cry is IYAAYAS, "If you ain't Ammo, you ain't $hit!"

Some of the biggest things that I took away from this very informative interview was:

  1. This is a very tight knit AFSC and they take a lot of pride in what they do. If the Ammo career field slacks in their job then there are no bombs to put on target, which saves lives.

  2. This is a very tight knit career field. They can put in long hours but those long hours together build a deep camaraderie that will last past your Air Force career.

Here’s a little overview of the AFSC:

Duties. Responsible for safety, security, and accountability of all nonnuclear munitions and related components. Performs and manages munitions production and materiel tasks and activities. Identifies munitions and equipment requirements. Operates and maintains automated data processing equipment (ADPE) to perform inspection, testing, and stockpile management activities. Stores, maintains, assembles, issues, and delivers assembled nonnuclear munitions. Routinely demilitarizes nonhazardous munitions. Operates and maintains munitions materiel handling equipment (MMHE). Develops and implements munitions materiel management concepts and procedures. Complies with explosive, missile, and ground safety, security, and environmental directives and practices. Identifies munitions by filler, color code, marking, or physical characteristics. Receives, stores, handles, and transports nuclear weapons.

  1. You’ll need at least 60 Mechanical OR a 57 General Score on the ASVAB

  2. As of a few months ago there are 6179 people in the AFSC, 5498 males (89%) and 681 females (11%).

  3. Tech School is 43 classroom days at Sheppard AFB, which is located at Wichita Falls, TX.

  4. Lastly, you’ll earn credits toward a CCAF degree in Munitions Systems Technology
